Artist picture
Evan Paul is a very unique artist. His music is totally original, multi-genre, mostly acoustic, new age, easy listening, uplifting and spiritual.
I'm a Canadian songwriter musician and have recently released my first CD, "Spirits in the Sky". It's an instrumental, classical guitar album with sweeteners such as flute and strings. After decades of performing in various bands and as solo, I have finally settled on recording and writing, and only playing live ocasionally. Result, is a sweet, easy listening and spiritually uplifting work that defies any genre placement. It's pure acoustic and very melodic. Also, one will notice vocal songs and collaborations with various world artists. Presently, my latest CD "Eklektika" is active. It's one of the most original multi-genre instrumental album ever created. Unlike my previous, "Spirits in the Sky" collection, this one has percussion, a little more punch, but still retains that Evan Paul style of classical guitar playing. Enjoy!!!

Story behind the song
Lenny Cory was a homeless street singer in Ottawa, Canada. In the daytime you'd see him on the street playing his guitar and singing country songs. He'd be saving, to one day make it to Nashville, but he always ended up drinking all the money at the bar, Lafayette. The spaghetti western is from the scenes where he comes out drunk, gets rolled by some urban cowboys, and gets shot, and as the camera rolls in time, to early morning we see him wake up, it was a dream...he rolls his sleeping bag, by the river, ...walks back to his playing spot with guitar in hand. I wrote this piece of music for the movie, "Rent" by Peter Evanchuk, but the movie was never completed due to Lenny's death in the middle of the shooting. This recording was done sometime in the late 80s early 90s.
Lyrics
WESTLAW-DREAM COWBOY (words and music by Evan Paul Kozaris) Verse 1 Is that a dream that you had? Is it a dream that you're livin' Hey, lonesome cowboy, where's your hat? On the streets where you're giggin' That and an old guitar, May never take you far, From the chill of the morning. Verse 2 Wherever you lay your head's your home, By the bank of the river, But it sure is warmer than before, You decided to leave her, What will be will be There's no guarantee, Only time will tell my friend.. solo A hat and an old guitar, May never take you far, From the chill of the morning, Is that a dream that you had, Is it a dream that you're livin'.

Hi Evan, Wow Spaghetti is piping hot. Awesome. Your electric guitar always sounds so clean/clear. I gotta believe that is a kicking amp you are playing out of. Love the country song. Excellent vocals by the way. Good accoustic sound. Always a pleasure to enjoy you musicianship. And like Brett I never heard this or the story both intriguing. Nice work!

Love the harmonica and flute additions. Definitely adds the elements of High 'em High and a little taste of rawhide. The bells, the whip cracks, very complete interpretation. When the vocal part came in along with the honky tonk piano, I was already so there! Excellent work. You really produced a complete tour of the genre and tied it all together in an epic representation of the genre.

Look out - here comes Clint walkin' up the middle of the deserted street - he's lookin' for YOU! (lol)... Seriously now - Evan, this is a cool western-type intro that turns into a kind of "modern" saloon song. Excellent concept! And fantastic arrangement and production! Cheers, Bob

So much more being said and done here than just good music. Sad but real story behind all this. Musically, the intro is awesome...so much there and all so well arranged, performed, and produced. Great imagery there. The country song is thought provoking and melancholy. Overall, this is a hell of a package. Great job on all this Evan. Your work is top shelf.
