This is an old-fashioned melancholy ballad. People who live alone were on my mind during the pandemic. For so many it was hard to connect with others during that time. This song reflects that sense of isolation.

Musician and song writer in Seattle, Washington.
For as long as I can remember, music has been a passion of mine. While playing for a live audience is great fun (most of the time), I've always had a special interest in recording -- both the technology and the process itself. These days I don't play gigs any more, but I enjoy writing and recording music for others to hear online. Hopefully, you'll find something you like here. Lyrics
A winter's night, moonlight glistening on the snow And here inside, the crackling fire glows A glass of wine, a bit of bread and cheese The dancing flames, so many nights like these The music drifts, an endless flowing stream The parting gift of a sweet remembered dream A fairy trace on a frosty window pane A smiling face in a dusty picture frame The distant stars gliding slowly 'cross the sky The hidden scars that no faith can justify The lonely hours of a lifetime passing by The lonely hours A rosy hint of morning in the sky A warning glimpse of a new approaching day The gentle cloak of darkness softly frayed A wisp of smoke as dying embers fade The distant stars gliding slowly 'cross the sky The hidden scars that no faith can justify The lonely hours of a lifetime passing by The lonely hours A winter's night
